9th Ward, New Orleans, LA Aug 28/06 - Part 4

9th Ward, New Orleans, LA Aug 28/06 - Part 3

A number of networks are using this house on Tennesee St. as a backdrop for their live shots.

9th Ward, New Orleans, LA Aug 28/06 - Part 2

The water and wind ripped a hole in the side of the house, but clothing remained on the hangers. Of course someone could have placed them there post-storm, but a strange site nonetheless.

9th Ward, New Orleans, LA Aug 28/06

It sounds extremely cliche, but these pictures don't even start to show the conditon of the 9th Ward in New Orleans, one year after Katrina. More to be posted later today & tonight.

Barbados - Cherry Tree Hill

Apparently this is quite a famous place (for the view at least), but we knew nothing about it. What a great surprise.

Arrrgghhhhhhh. Look on Flickr for the photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jayking/

I can't seem to upload photos here right now.

Barbados - North West and North Side

During our tour of the island, we found the north west and northern part of the island to be a lot more lush and green, as opposed to where we staying that was kind of scrubby and rocky.

I think if we ever make the trip back, we might stay closer to this area, near a place called Holetown.

Barbados - Enormous Sparrows

The birds were huge.

Actually, they were just very tame.

Barbados - Sunset

The sunset looking "away" from the beach on our last night (taken through a window).

Barbados - East Coast

The locals say that they sea "kisses" the west coast of the island. As for the east coast...it appears to be a more violent relationship.

Barbados - Hilton Resort

This was the view from the balcony of our hotel room. We were staying at the Hilton Barbados.

Views of Manhattan from Jersey City

I snapped these pictures from the roof of 525 Washington Ave., Jersey City, NJ.

Married To The Sea: a daily comic.

This is making me laugh. Your mileage may vary.

Yankees Opening Day 2006

Katherine and I spent Tuesday afternoon in the sun, watching the New York Yankees on opening day. Sweet!

K was offered 2 tickets from a supplier at work (with whom she does a lot of business) and we could not pass them up. I have been out of the office a lot this year, but I thought to myself..

"Self, What's one more half-day?"

We hopped on the 4 train for the long ride to the Bronx (161st St!!!) with loads of other luck fans lucky enough to have a ticket. When we arrived, this is what we saw:

It was perfect except our seats were not that good (or so we thought). We actually went to the wrong seats in 2 sections above our correct seats. A drunk dude came by and told us that we were in his seats. We disagreed and sent him to find a customer service rep (they are NOWHERE to be found). Before he came back again, we started to think that maybe we were in the wrong seats. We were. He returned and we gladly got up and moved down to a sunnier seats that were not surround by drunk Yankee hooligans.

Nice. The new seats had a better view because peoples asses were not constantly in our face. Up at the top, people would NOT sit down! In the slightly better seats, people still yelled, screamed, and cursed, but somehow it was much more enjoyable.

In the photo above, you can actually see the ball part-way between the mound and the batter.

So what happened in the game? We (Yankees) won in a great 8th inning rally with a 3-run homer from Derek Jeter. Phew.

As usual, photos are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jayking/
